Personal association
Who your friends are, who you work with or the groups you belong to cannot be used to discriminate against you. It is against the law to discriminate against someone because they have a personal association with someone with a personal characteristic protected under the Equal Opportunity Act.
That means that you can't be treated unfairly if your best friend has a disability or your colleague was not born in Australia or your mother is a politician.
