Human rights and climate change: Protecting the rights of future generations

Climate change threatens fundamental human rights including the right to life itself. However, it is those least responsible for climate change, namely people in the developing world, young people and future generations who will be most affected. This raises questions of equity and imposes a moral obligation on the developed world to act.

This year’s Oration was delivered by Dan Adams who, in 2006, organised the Make Poverty History Concert which reached a global audience of 20 million people. Dan is also the Young Victorian of the Year for 2008 and a board member of The Oaktree Foundation.

Opening address by the Attorney-General, The Hon Rob Hulls.

When: Wednesday, 10 December 2008, 12.30pm to 1.30pm (followed by light lunch)
