   Francis Ventura

“I believe human rights is a concept of humanity which needs to be upheld and nurtured.”

Francis is a passionate young person who is willing to have a go at anything which has the potential to create positive change. Currently in year 12, Francis is a keen sportsperson, has travelled extensively, and has been involved in politics from a very young age.

“It is simply unacceptable that people are still having their most basic rights violated,” says Francis. “I am aware that one person cannot change the world, however a group working in unison can inspire wonderful things we can all be proud of.”

Francis is on the reference group for the Youth Affairs Council of Victoria, attended the World Vision Global Leadership Conference and represented his school in the 2007 Rotary Model United Nations Assembly. He works closely with his member of Parliament on youth issues, and volunteers with the Edmund Rice Centre providing tutoring for newly arrived refugees.

“Being a Human Rights Youth Ambassador gives me that opportunity to raise awareness about issues, inspire change and of course spread the good word of the Victorian Charter of Human Rights,” says Francis.

Francis was nominated by the Youth Affairs Council of Victoria.
