Education and consultancy

When it comes to managing your human resources, prevention is always better than cure. Equal opportunity education and appropriate policies and practices can help prevent costly, time-consuming and disruptive workplace discrimination and harassment issues and disputes.

The Equal Opportunity Commission is exceptionally well placed to provide education and consultancy services to the Victorian community. In handling enquiries and complaints the Commission has a unique insight into the perspective and experience of:

• complainants
• respondents
• organisations.

This ensures that our education programs are informed by the needs and experiences of individuals as well as organisations.

Through continuing research and constant contact with other equal opportunity bodies nationally and internationally, the EOCV keeps up-to-date with developments in the law and current trends in best practice. We consult with industry bodies and employer groups to maintain our understanding of the needs of employers and employees.

Our experienced team of education consultants work with organisations in the public, private and community sectors to help them design and implement strategies to eliminate discrimination and harassment. Our key aims are to ensure organisations:

• are equipped to implement equal opportunity strategies
• manage their own complaints more effectively
• minimise the impact of discrimination and harassment on individuals and the organisation.

Customised consultancy services

Our Education Consultancy team can help your organisation by customising a program to meet your specific organisational needs. We understand that each client's needs are unique, and develop and deliver our customised services accordingly.

We can provide education programs when and where you need it, maximising cost-effectiveness. Topics include any combination of the workshops listed in our Workshops Calendar as well as any other equal opportunity issues you choose.

Our consultancy services include:

• expert advice about risk management and EO best practice
• policies and procedures development and review
• education programs
• assessment and analysis of work environments to measure the level and impact of discrimination and harassment.

In designing and education program to meet your organisation's needs we offer to review (at no extra charge) your equal opportunity policies and procedures and provide feedback and suggestions for any improvement or amendments.
