The Equal Opportunity Act includes exemptions which allow discrimination in the following cases:
- charities
- legal incapacity
- legislation authorises discrimination
- pensions
- superannuation
- temporary exemptions
- welfare measures and special needs
There are also exceptions that apply to the protection the Equal Opportunity Act offers in the following areas:
